MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS

LubePlus E System

Introduction – The Interlube Lubeplus ‘E’ lubrication system is a compact automatic cyclic lubricator designed for use with the Interlube single line flow unit system. In common with other electro-mechanical devices correct installation and operation procedures must be carefully observed.

Operation - The pump is a compact, adjustable discharge, self contained, electrically operated automatic lubricator complete with integral float switch. The pump operating lever mechanism is driven, through gearing, by a continuously running electric motor, which operates a spring loaded discharge piston at various set time intervals. When the lever arm mechanism reaches the maximum point of travel the piston is released and discharges a pre-set volume of lubricant into the system.

Discharge control is obtained by varying the effective output stroke of the piston by loosening the small grub screw on the knurled adjuster and by turning that adjuster until the required volume is obtained. Re-tighten the grub screw. The output volume is adjustable between 0.25cc and 2.5cc.

The pump is also fitted with a ‘priming handle’ connected to the discharge piston which can be used to manually operate the system after completing the installation or at intervals when the machine has been inoperative for a period of time. A lost motion mechanism obviates restriction of the upward stroke of the piston should the handle be inadvertently depressed during operation.

Warning of pressure failure can be achieved by installing a pressure switch in the system, which can be interfaced with the general machine control. The integral float switch monitors low level lubricant in the transparent reservoir.

Maintenance - As an owner of an Interlube Lubeplus ‘E’ system the only maintenance you should find necessary is to periodically check the reservoir lubricant level topping up with the recommended lubricant, as necessary, and checking the condition of the main and auxiliary lines.
At all times observe the following for fault free operation:

  • The recommended lubricant is oil in the 10 - 1800 centistokes range
  • Ensure stored lubricant is kept clean at all times
  • After filling the reservoir make sure the filler cap is secured

If the system should fail to operate satisfactorily the following diagnostic and remedial advice will help identify and correct any fault.

Fault Finding -
All lubrication points are dry

(1) Cause: The lubricant reservoir is empty. Action: Refill the reservoir and ensure that all supply pipes are free from air.

(2) Cause: The reservoir has been filled with an unsuitable lubricant. Action: Drain the reservoir and thoroughly flush the system using a light mineral oil, DO NOT USE SOLVENT CLEANERS. Refill with the correct grade of lubricant.

(3) Cause: The power supply has failed. Action: Check main supply; check continuity of wiring to unit.

(4) Cause: The motor/gearbox has failed. Action: Check for correct supply to motor. If correct but motor not rotating replace motor/gearbox assembly.

(5) Cause: No discharge from outlet. Action: Inlet/outlet check valve faulty, replace.

Fault Finding -
One or more (but not all) lubrication points are dry

(1) Cause: Pipes supplying the dry lubrication points have worked loose from their connections. Action: Check pipe connections and re-connect where necessary.Ensure sufficient tubing allowance on moving lubrication points.

(2) Cause: Pipes supplying the dry lubrication points are damaged or
crushed. Action: Install new pipes, re-routing if necessary to avoid damage.

(3) Cause: No output from flow units due to blockage. Action: Empty the reservoir and fill with new clean oil of a suitable grade. Fit new flow units. Do not attempt to clean and re-use blocked units as this could result in further problems.
